So That Was June
07.01.2009
Not June Cleaver, Wally or the Beave, or anything resembling a relaxing month. When I last left you, I left you with some revealing news. Nothing quite as revealing this time around. A week ago today I received the keys to the new Casa de el Architect and la Teacher and began the moving madness. Now, normally any move requires a great deal of effort and this one was no exception. Probably the biggest challenge was doing this without using any of the weekend. Why was that? Last weekend required another visit to The Teacher in Astoria. On Friday we completed our marriage certificate at the county clerks office and on Saturday we had another bridal shower / meet and greet. I think by now I've meet most of her large family, but this was an excuse for another get together celebration. Thanks to the generosity of all who attended we scored some nice gifts as well. The deluxe deep fryer will be put to good use. I need to find a good Twinkee recipe stat. Score! On Friday the Astoria Column was open at last. I took advantage of this opportunity and climbed up the 164 spiral stairs to the top. Despite the amazing view from the top, I still couldn't see my house, or the large amount of boxes scattered everywhere. Oh well, even though I couldn't see them, I knew they'd be there when I got back. On Sunday The Teacher and I headed to Portland for some suit shopping. Being a rather tall guy, I really can't just go anywhere and find something that fits. However, Men's Warehouse worked out rather well, and the suit has been purchased, with slight adjustments being made to it right now by the tailor who was about two feet shorter than I am. The final wedding band for The Teacher was also purchased, so many of the final pieces are being checked off the list. A good feeling indeed. For something else that invokes good feelings, we also had some tasty burgers at Five Guys in Beaverton. A complete weekend indeed. However, my fun was not done. After the drive back from Portland on Sunday, I jumped right back into the process of moving out/moving in/cleaning (wash, rinse, repeat). That basically continued through Tuesday evening, with the final touches being applied. As I sit here typing this, I'm done at the old place. Relief INDEED! Now onto the new place. At least The Teacher is currently here to help with that task.

#700 Because You Can Only Write About Roundabouts For So Long
06.23.2009
Things have been a bit sporadic with updates on here of late. Was the monkey kidnapped, held hostage, or on a long vacation? Nope. House hunting and other endeavors have taken up much of The Architects time lately and now the actual move has started. Boxes are being packed and even though my move isn't involving any great distance, a move is still a move, thus requiring a lot of work. Last weekend did involve some time visiting The Teacher in Astoria and getting all of the parents together as well for a meet and greet. Fine helpings of fish and chips was the method we used for the feastings of first acquaintances. Hard to go wrong with a good meal of fried foods. The weekend also featured further discovery of The Teacher's superhero name and I discovered that she did indeed do battle with The Riddler in the past. Seriously, it's stuff like this that takes time to discover, because it's rarely revealed on casual first or early encounters. This is the stuff that serious relationships reveal, and ours is a little more than simply serious, in fact topping Yahoo Serious, if I do say so myself. Now, for those who do not truly understand the process of discovery, I'd like to illustrate it further for you here. Yep, once again a fine lesson is going to be given for you, for free. Life is good, as said over pizza:

The Teacher and The Architect Sitting In A Tree
06.15.2009
Over the past weekend, The Teacher and myself were given a surprise party (in a sense). I knew some of the details, but surprises were still all around. What was the occasion? Sort of a combined bridal shower, meet and greet, and cake and beer celebration type event. It's hard to go wrong with that sort of thing. We also spent part of the weekend doing some house hunting. While The Architects pad is all swanky and nice, we're going to need a bit more room and a place that will allow Amy The Wonder Dog. I did my homework during the previous few weeks and got it narrowed down to a decent list of places to check out. Yesterday we made our decision and have that process under way. The next month and a half is going to be busy. INDEED!
